If you have a concrete structure that you happen to like a lot then applying a concrete seal to it can be a great idea to make sure that it can remain looking as radiant as ever. That being said, if you were to walk into a home improvement store you would find that there are a lot of different options out there to choose from. This is not an overly expensive treatment. Just because of that though, it should not be treated lightly. At least that is what we believe. We want to go over why sealing your concrete is a good idea and also why hiring a professional service to do it for you is an even better idea.
Why Is Using A Concrete Sealer A Good Idea?
For the most part, concrete is going to be directly exposed to the elements or to people and vehicles stomping on it literally on a daily basis. When we are talking about homes though, the abuse that the concrete is going to be put through a lot of times will not compare to the type of overall usage that floors will get in factories or other venues. So seal is kind of a good idea for outdoor areas that get moderate use.
Sealants or Epoxy
We are team epoxy, it is even in our name why would we go with concrete sealants right? Obviously, the effects that both chemicals have on concrete can be considered very similar. The reason that we apply both types of treatments is that we believe that sealant is a little bit like what you need to use just in case. If your floor is going to be taking a lot of abuse sealant will usually come up short. Epoxy, on the other hand, may be too much for certain areas that are not going to get heavy usage. The coating is quite a bit thicker and the process is slower overall. It really depends on what you happen to be looking for!
Fighting Water Back
We get a lot of water around this area. We are filled with lakes and different bodies of water. This makes the soil around here a little bit softer a little harder to deal with overall for builders. Concrete surfaces really struggle when going up against moisture especially when they are are not given the proper help. We want to make sure that we can just outright avoid all of that. Getting your concrete sealed can be a great first step.
How Often Do I Need To Apply Concrete Sealers?
If things are done well the first time around you can sneak in a new concrete seal service to your property every 2 years or so and be perfectly fine. This time frame may vary if you start applying a lot of pressure to your concrete areas. At least more than what they were used to. For the most part, though, around 2 to 3 years is a good number!
