Stained Concrete

Stained Concrete materials
If you have not figured it out already at Lake Forest Epoxy Pros we can pretty much decorate or protect any type of floor or area that you have in your home or business. These sections like our sealing and staining services are usually more focused on homeowners than they are on business owners. The reason that we say that is that these services are applied more commonly to homes. If you have no idea what staining is and how it can differ from painting or other types of treatments on floors we will walk you through everything. If you have a decent understanding then you will be able to skim right to the parts that interest you the most!

Staining vs Painting

The way that we like to describe this difference is that with painting you are going to place the paint literally on top of the concrete structure and you are going to be able to physically see that when you are done. You run the risk of getting a look that kind of feels “fake” in a certain way. Kind of like when you dye your hair. With staining the idea is to have the color mix in with the surface in a more natural way. That is why we usually prefer it.

Staining Is More of A Process

We like to use this phrase because as we mentioned with staining what we are trying to do is to get the color to mix in a natural way. A lot of times we have found that the color begins to really flourish even a couple of months after it was first applied. When we get through polishing and things like that, they will actually benefit the overall look of the floors all the way around.

Can I Clean And The Everything The Same Way?

This is one of the main questions that people who are unfamiliar with this process come to us with. The answer is pretty simple here, of course. As long as you let the stained concrete kind of sit for a while when it is first applied as you would with fresh paint from there on out you can just treat it like a normal floor. It is going to repel water a lot more. So that can throw some people off as they are cleaning. You will find though, that the surface actually becomes easier to clean, so you probably won’t mind!

Colors & Designs

We really want to make sure that the people that we work with feel that these surfaces are totally their own. So, to do that we offer all sorts of different design and color possibilities for our clients. Even if you can’t find the exact color that you may be looking for on a specific catalog give us a call. We have come up with some pretty wacky designs throughout the years. So we are pretty confident that we will be able to help you out without too much trouble!
